Digitised images from old glass lantern slides c.1904
A selection of rare images of Kenfig & Newton Burrows have kindly been donated to this project by Mr Steve Parker of Kenfig.
The description where it can be read is taken from the envelope holding the original individual glass slide.
Never seen by the general public before, these rare photos of Kenfig & Newton Burrows show various sand dune shapes
including some where Maudlam is visible in the distance.
This website project is enormously grateful to Mr Parker for his kind generosity with these photos as they not only give
the viewer some scale of the remnants of the largest sand dune complex in Europe that was created at the end of the last Ice Age;
but more over, the dunes appeared that special to document in excess of 100yrs ago, (at the time of writing; AD 2011) even when photography was in its pioneering
stages of development itself. Modern electronic digitising techniques have been used to re-create this once in a lifetime historical find.
