Background
The Gambo Race is a charity-based community event organised as a joint venture by Pyle RFC and The Cornelly
Arms public house. It was started in 2001 and has become an institution in its own right
gaining a reputation as a great and fun day out for all.
The Gambo Race has been documented online exclusively by Kenfig.org since 2003 with unprecidented success
attracting viewing from across the world and even helping boost the moral of British Forces serving overseas.
The event attracts visitors to the Kenfig and surrounding areas from right across the UK and from around the world.
Exclusive on Kenfig.org
Kenfig.org covered the event in 2003 and again in 2004, 2005 & 2006 due to popular demand.
The online worldwide response has been staggering... the inclusion of the Gambo Race on this website has provided
the catalyst for the mainstay of the website's marketing strategies. In 2006 the first five days coverage
attracted in excess of 50,000 hits on Kenfig.org website - compared to the entire month of September in 2003.
The Kenfig.org website has become the mainstay for the gambo race coverage with more online visitors attracted
to the site as each years passes by. The Gambo Race coverage is exclusive to the website www.kenfig.org.uk
Local Newspaper Coverage
Kenfig.org was responsible for both the 2003 & 2004 Gambo Race photos in the Glamorgan Gazette Newspaper,
a local newspaper covering the whole of the Bridgend County Borough and published by
Westerm Mail & South Wales Echo Publications, Cardiff,
South Wales. The Western Mail is owned by
Trinity Mirror Group.
Local Newsletter Coverage
Previous photos of the Annual Gambo Race were published in the local MCK Newsletter thus providing further
coverage of the event to people who do not have access to the Internet - sadly the MCK Newsletter ended in 2004.
