In medieval times Kenfig was awarded the status of a Borough. The Kenfig Borough or Old Bro Cynffig
included Kenfig, Maudlam (Mawdlam), much of North Cornelly, Marlas, Pyle and some of Kenfig Hill.

Organised in advance of August Bank Holiday's Annual Gambo Race, an Easter Bonet Parade and competition
was held at the Cornelly Arms on Easter Sunday, 08 April 2007.
Aimed at encouraging local community spirit together with raising monies that will be added to
the Annual Gambo Race Fund to be distributed to local good causes later in the year, the Easter Bonet Parade
attracted a substantial following.
Prizes were awarded for the best bonnet in the children's category together with best bonnet in the
men's and ladies section. (Further details to follow...)
