The Kenfig Borough / Old Bro Cynffig

In medieval times Kenfig was awarded the status of a Borough. The Kenfig Borough or Old Bro Cynffig included Kenfig, Maudlam (Mawdlam), much of North Cornelly, Marlas, Pyle and some of Kenfig Hill. [ Learn more ]

The Community Event

The Annual Cricket Match is a charity-based community event organised as a joint venture between Pyle RFC and The New House Inn, North Cornelly. It was started in 2003 as a precursor to the Annual Gambo Race which takes place a week later on August Bank Holiday weekend. The two teams are called The New House Inn Barbarians and Pyle RFC Zimabweans respectively. All monies raised with this event are added to the monies raised with the Annual Gambo Race event and shared amongst community groups and organisations within the immediate areas.

The Welsh Transport Regiment Royal Logistics Corps, Maindy Barracks, Cardiff, also help out at the event. [ learn more about Welsh Transport Regiment ]

The event takes place on Cornelly playing fields, Meadow Street, North Cornelly.
